America Turns 250
On July 4, 2026, United States will celebrate 250 years of independence—a historic milestone marking the nation’s founding in 1776.
As noted in national commemorations of this anniversary, with a single sheet of parchment and 56 signatures, America began one of the most significant political journeys in human history.
To honor this once-in-a-generation moment, the library is excited to begin planning a series of programs and activities that will invite our community to reflect on the past, engage with the present, and imagine the future. Planned activities will include:
- Reading Challenges exploring American history, culture, and diverse voices
- Educational Programs & Discussions for all ages
- Interactive & Creative Activities
- Displays and Exhibits highlighting local and national stories
This celebration will emphasize learning, civic engagement, and inclusive storytelling—recognizing that America’s history is complex, evolving, and shaped by many voices. Learn more about the national initiative:
