(Teens and Adults): We’ll discuss Clement Xavier’s “The Bodyguard Unit: Edith Garrud, Women’s Suffrage, and Jujitsu.” This graphic retelling of a pioneering self-defense instructor’s life is interwoven with the resilience of and (often physical) resistance to early 20th-century voting-rights activists.
