Get a Library Card!

A Pennsauken library card is available free of charge to anyone who lives or owns a business in Pennsauken. Pennsauken public school teachers (pre-K to high school) as well as Pennsuaken based business owners are also eligible for free cards. Pennsauken residents' library cards expire October 31st of every year. At that time, we request identification that verifies your Pennsauken address. Out-of-town membership cards are available for $45/year. Out-of-town members' cards expire one year from date of application. Cards need to be renewed with valid identification. A minor's card must be renewed with parental identification. Please keep your expired card; the renewal process only involves updating our computer with any address or phone number changes. Cards must be up to date and in good standing to borrow materials or access computers. New cards will be mailed directly to your residence. Please allow seven (7) business days for receipt. You will not be able to check out materials until you have received your card through the mail.

Acceptable identification

• Valid N.J. driver's license or car registration
• Valid N.J. car insurance card
• Official state and Camden County ID cards (w/ expiration dates)
• Current utility bill (must be addressed to person applying for card)
• Pennsauken property deed
• Current mortgage statement (must be addressed to person applying for card)

All library items may be renewed twice, as long as there are no reserves waiting for that item. Items may be renewed over the telephone during regular business hours.

Please do not allow young children to renew by phone. Library materials must be returned to the Library during regular Library business hours only.

Lost library cards need to be reported immediately. Patron is responsible for all materials borrowed on said card until it is reported lost or stolen. Replacement fee is $4 per card.

Loan periods

• Videos/DVDs: two days
• Non-fiction videos and multi-disc sets: six days
• Books, CDs, audio tapes: two weeks

Item limits

• Seven (7) videos/DVDs per family from our Pennsauken Library Collection
• Seven (7) videos/DVDS per family from the South Jersey Video Collection (on the carousel rack in our video area)
• Eight adult new books
• Three (3) non-fiction books per call number
• No limit on books, CDs or audio books

Late fines

• Videos/DVDs: $1 per video, per day
• Books, CDs, Audio tapes: 15¢ per day, per item
• Inter-library loan items (ILL's) not picked up within three (3) days of notice will result in a $1 fine per ILL item placed on borrower's library card.

Borrowing privileges and computer access are suspended on all cards having a fine balance of $4.95 or more. This also applies to the parent/guardian who has signed for a minor child AND all children for whom that parent/guardian has signed

A valid up-to-date Pennsauken Library card is necessary to utilize Library computer workstations. Patrons without Library cards desiring to use computer workstations have the option to pay $5 for a one-hour session. Non-resident patrons wishing to acess the library's wireless password can do so by paying $10.00, entitling the patron unlimited access through the week in which it was purchased.
