Budget Cuts and the Pennsauken Free Public Library

Budget Cuts and the Pennsauken Free Public Library

Although there have still been cuts, $4.299 million was restored thanks to your efforts. Details are still being worked out but this means:

  • Access to databases will still be funded by the state but no longer accessible through the Jersey Clicks website.
  • Inter-library Loan Services will no longer be administered by regional cooperatives but services WILL continue.

The assembly proposed bill A2555 Eliminates minimum funding for libraries. This means:

We may have less money for books, movies, databases, and computers
We may have to cut hours

Good News! S2068 would dedicate funding to libaries. This bill has passed the Senate and is now (7/10/10) with the Assembly Housing and Local Government Committee.

Additional Information:

  • The Pennsauken Library is planning on being closed 4 additonal days between July and December to compensate for lost state funding.
